This is a very well designed app with loads of information...will be my go to app whenever i plan to visit any parks.. Hope they add more apps
Some bad moments
This looks like it would work alright in the lower 48, but in Alaska its nearly worthless. Only has trails and guides around Kenai and Denali.
Can find better trail guides in books or online.
Would recommend trying to expand this database to state parks as well.
There are many National Parks not available. Very heavy on Western US including smaller National Parks. What makes me rate it low, is the volume of missing parks, exclusion of National Lakeshore Parks (Pictured Rocks), and large Eastern parks like Smokey Mountain National Park.
The fact that the most visited national park in the US is not included makes me question how good this app could possibly be. The Great Smoky Mtns NC version is "in progress" but not the TN side, which includes the majority of the park. This is an awfully big MB-hoarding app to leave out such a significant park. What IS the deal?!?!?
App states maps! Does have maps, spent many minutes looking for directions to areas. No direction support that I can find. Everything else is awesome, yet, may be better if I had a way to get there.
A great concept BUT:
Service in the Tetons & Yellowstone is ZERO
I hate signing up for an account when all I want is for the app to do a GPS track in the field. Didnt find out that I needed an account till I was in Yellowstone and of course there was no cell service out there.
Best use is at home to plan a trip - but the info is much less detailed than your Lonely Planet guide book. Pretty pictures though!
